... a network of parents and family members who have a son, daughter or relative with a disability.
Parent to Parent brings together parents and family members for mutual support and practical information, skill enhancement opportunities together with planning activities. This enables families to increase their knowledge and make more informed choices decisions about their family members future needs.
Parents who want to be supported around disability specific issues are linked to other parents or family members by phone or in person. These may be couples, single parents, grandparents, Foster parents etc.
Parents are also linked with professionals, organizations or services for information and support.Parent To Parent believes people are supported best by
others who have
similar life experiences.
Dads Appreciating DisabilitieS is a network of men working together to make a difference and contribute to a better future for people with a disability or health impairment.
D.A.D.S. networks allow men to experience a common bond and share the experiences they face in day to day life. It is a place to find and share ideas and where required solve problems.
Members of D.A.D.S. are free to say anything that is on their mind and express their inner thoughts and feelings whilst in a safe and supportive environment. They can learn new tools, plan or seek assistance when things get tough.
D.A.D.S. has online forums to begin to address isolation experienced by men in rural and remote communities.

Our statewide network of local groups are lead by parents who are the focus in their own community for families to access support, information, planning and linking to other organizations and supports.Local groups keep abreast of current information and trends. They also provide feedback to the State Centre in Yandina for sharing state-wide about local achievements.
Planning for a Desirable future…
Families supporting other families and people with a disability to plan a desirable future and design action steps to move toward that future. This is a valuable and practical way to look at a vision for the future, and sees people with a disability as being part of their community. Planning can also be useful to negotiate supports.Person Centred Practice tools used in Planning include Essential Lifestyle Plans; Planning Alternate Tomorrows with Hope and Pathways to Possibilities.
